Remembering John Louis Cherry, 1952 - 2010

A man who pulled himself from his hat,
and could saw himself in two,
or transform himself into that memorized card
that everyone expected and knew.

A man who could make his own thoughts appear
by uttering words made of nothing but air;

A man who can vanish, even wrapped up in rope,
without a flash of bright light or a big puff of smoke;

A man who believed that all real mean try
to untie a knot that never was tied,
to escape from a bottle that has no outside.
